SUVA Programs and Services


Youth Programs

SUVA is privileged to note that it is the organization's 3rd year partnership with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, and is a qualified provider for the Supplemental Educational Services (SES) program, which provides bilingual/bicultural homework assistance to youth in the K-12 public school system.

Services include:
   ~ After school academic and social activities
   ~ Mentoring middle and high-school students
   ~ GED, college preparation for high-school students
   ~ Sports, music, arts, cultural, and social activities to develop        leadership, team, and problem-solving skills
   ~ Advocacy.

Adult and Senior Services

As part of its Senior Services, SUVA is one of 5 King County elder grant contractors, providing Ethiopian, Eritrean, Oromo and other East African elders with information, referral and specialized educational services to any refugees and/or asylees over the age of 60.

Services include:
   ~ Case management, including citizenship/naturalization applications        and filing, basic public assistance,
   ~ Counseling and therapy for mental health, substance abuse, and        family issues
   ~ Referral services.

Interpretation / Translation Services

SUVA has interpretation / translation capacity in Somalian, Oromo, Amharic, Tigrigna, Arabic, and other East-African languages in the following service areas:
   ~ Social services
   ~ Medical services
   ~ Court hearings
